Thanks to all who responded both privately and here on the
list.

Ralph:

Yes, I only afterwards thought of seeking shelter in the lee of
Teller's Point. The incredible onrush of the storm sent me
scurrying in the wrong direction in momentary panic.

Regarding PFDs creeping up when not securely cinched, I
recently had a group of business people out in canoes & kayaks
in a local creek when the Mr.-Know-It-All boss approached a
R.R. bridge completely contrary to my instruction, leaned into
a piling when he got caught by the current and dumped himself &
his very large-bodied employee in. She was barely above the
water's surface, but her PFD was riding high.

No, I'm not kicking myself over this, I'm feeling lucky and
very, very open to learning everything I can from this.

Thanks to you all for your input.

Happy to be here,

Paul Hollerbach
