I would like to have an answer to this question myself so I thought I'd
forward this to Paddlewise.

Does anyone have information on a basket I have heard called the Adirondack
Back Pack. I have seen it shown in many photos as a Canoe pack. The three
articles in the recent Wooden Boat magazine on making a Wood Canvass Canoe
had one and it is also shown in the advertisement in the back of the same
magazine for the Adirondack Guide Boats.

The Adirondack pack basket I believe was used primarily to carry beaver
traps and other awkward shaped gear.Jack Ledley of Speculator N.Y
(Adirondack Park) still makes them the old way.He also makes Adirondack
style chairs and maple syrup. The area code for that region is 518.If I
come across his phone no. I will post it.You should be able to get in
from long distance info.
