I have a floater for my klepper, full coverage, replacement value [over
$10 000.00CDN with boat accesories]
I pay $ 100.00 CDN per year, worldwide coverage.
My deductible is $ 250.00 CDN [ cents in USD]
I'll have to check who with, am not sure ...

works good for me...

I'll get back to you on what company...

My agent also told me my house/farm policy would cover a borrowed kayak in
the Phillipines or Thailand , but with that policy I have a $500.00 CDN
deductible

have fun

>Who is the company that you have your marine insurance with?

My policy is with "Sovereign ..." forget the other word...but it is part
of the Co-Operators insurance company.

My agent told me there were quite a few policies out there for yaks and
canoes...We had to go to this one in order to get worldwide coverage...It
seems that most don't like the idea of insuring a yak travelling through S
E asia...
No idea why as I am convinced if I get ripped off it will
be in N America and not in S E Asia...Then again 7 years ago I met a german
couple In Thailand , had been on the water 3 weeks, were travelling from
Phuket to Malaysian border then road to Singapore...Having decide to have a
long shower together and then lunch, they had stashed their 2 single
kleppers on the beach next to the resort instead of out front of the rest.
so the folks could keep an eye out for them...They came back and it was all
gone, yaks, money and passports, but I think it was them [not the thieves
so much] that were at fault...

My agent tells me it is a replacement value insurance and if I get into
trouble, to phone him and he'll get in touch with Klepper to ship me a
replacement...

He also says that my house insurance will cover any yak I borrow from
seacanoe while in the Phillipines or Thailand, as it is aborrowed
item...All I need to do is fax him the info [type, model, serial #...]

Then again I expect increible service as I havve spent tons of doe at the
insurance office with the farm and biz over the last number of years, not
to mention all the dam vehicles I have had insured over the last 10
years...
Insurance is my single biggest expense of the year...

have fun
