I have a pair of Steiners Commander II 7x50 and they work very well but use
a small pair of Nikons most of the time.The range finder only works if you
know the height of a object to work off of. After a while the compass does
not bother you when you are looking thru them.One nice thing about the
compass is if you are looking at some thing you can take a bearing and then
give the binocs to some one else and tell them the degrees , then they can
locate the object a lot easier
