We recently shipped a Folbot double from NC to NJ for $40 via UPS. This was in 2 packages (2 bags) and ~75 lbs. We fabricated cardboard boxes from bike boxes and used a little bubble wrap. Bicycle shops generally toss them. Be sure to pad any sharp projecting pieces inside the bags, as they have the potential to punch through both bag and cardboard with rough handling.
