RE: [Paddlewise] switch back

I generally pull mine out in the winter since I switch from big water to
little water.  Also, for the winter camping trips, my dog comes with me and
she just won't jam into the kayak hatch or straddle the back deck :-)  On
these trips, I paddle the canoe (with her in it) and tow the kayak out to
some island.  During the days, I leave her on the island (to do dog stuff),
and I can paddle the kayak.  Works out well for both of us.  We just got
back from the Adirondacks and leave in a couple of days for Squam Lake in
NH.  The only bad thing about using the canoe in the winter, it's really
cold being fully exposed (even with thick fleece under a drysuit).
