When I purchased my dry suit, I seem to remember the advertisement stating
that salt water did not harm it.

I wonder what other's experience is.

My goretex dry suit is 6 years old now. I would never go back to a regular
dry suit. Being a guide here in Alaska in the cold water I wear my dry
suit more in one year then most would wear it in thier life time.
Kokatat's fix some leaking seams at no charge back a few years. Gaskets
have been replaced several times. After being abused for 6 years the
Goretex is still waterproof . Other friends that I've converted them to
Goretex have said it was the best investment they've made.

The one change I would make on my next suit is that Goretex breaths both
direction. I would have a coated nylon butt patch put on. If your setting
a long time your butt gets warm and a little damp from the Goretex
breathing the wrong direction, but it may be about the same with a coated
nylon suit and sweating. It's been so long since I've worn a regular dry
suit can't remember. Kokatat will put a coated butt patch on for you if
you order the suit.

A must have feature, get latex feet put in the dry suit. Feet stay dry and
warm. It also make putting on and taking off the dry suit a lot easier.

At the rate people are turning up suddnely, deathly allergic to latex,I'd
suggest less efficient (IM experience) neoprene gaskets.
