An excellent point. Another thing about "replacement value". If you get a very good deal on a kayak as I did, make sure you insure it for it's replacement value, not necessarily what you paid for it. By prudent shopping I didnt pay anywhere near $2700 for my boat, but thats what it would cost me to get one in my area.
