I've never had carpal tunnel syndrome, but I have had sore wrist tendons. This is not necessarily brought on by using a feathered paddle. It can be the result of gripping the paddle too tightly or using a technique that puts undue stress on the wrist. As Bob Apter pointed out, using a more vertical entry on the forward stroke will help. Rather than crank your wrist back to get the vertical blade angle, lift your entire arm up toward your ear. I've injured my wrist by cranking too hard on a stern rudder stroke while surfing. The point is there are many ways to get a wrist injury that have nothing to do with the feathered paddle.
