Perhaps the best material for sleeping bag vapor barrier liners
is the silicon coated 1.4 oz. rip stop nylon used by Jack
Stepehnson in the manufacture of his exceptionally light tents.
Stepehnson sells this 62" wide material for $10 a yard, or for
the the ultimate, $25 per yard for the aluminized material to
thwart radiant heat loss.

If you have ever owned a Stepehnson tent the justification for
his high price is clear. His 2.75 lb 2RS mountaineering tent is
quite exceptional, albeit without peer in the cost department.

Camp 7 used to manufacture VBLs from urethane coated 1.5 oz
ripstop, but all urethane will eventually emulsify while the
silicon material is stable. VBLs add substantially to sleeping
bag utility. Our ski touring experience in the Pacific Northwest
suggests about a 12-15 degree advantage -- well worth the weight.
