I have a size 17 neck and I never trimmed the gaskets to my drytop after a year of wear until yesterday. I used the stretch and 'bear it' method, which was a little contricting but I was dry. But yesterday I noticed during a overdue application of 303 that there were tiny cracks on the outside edge of the neck gasket. I don't know if this was from the stretching but I am surely going to stick to my schedule of applying 303. Anyway I trimmed off one ring to terminate the further deepening of the cracks. I am really glad I 'beared with-it' on the tight gasket as I a least had a fall back position. Don't get carried away on trimming your gaskets because you may regret it later.
