Refer to www.latimes.com for complete details.

A six-man outrigger canoe, crewed by an experienced group, was flipped
in gusty winds and six-foot swells off the coast of Ventura last
weekend. They were in the water for hours. Two men died (one of
hypothermia in the presence of the others, one who swam for shore and
disappeared). Two are still in hospital, two have been released.

None of them had PFDs or protective clothing (water temp was in high
50's). Manly men. They had paddled this route hundreds of times, and
this time they got caught.
