The pressurized hatch idea, mentioned in another response, is definitely the best way to go, but, in the absence of those widgets, put the boat up on hatches, put some (not a lot!) of water in the after compartment, (maybe leave it in the sun, if you have it) and rotate the boat watching for leaks at various angles. It's slower than the pressure method, but it works.
