Hello. I'm 44 years old reside in NJ and paddle a Arluk III. My first kayak was one of those $49 canvas kits from an ad in Boy's Life 30 years ago. I actually completed the thing and got it to float. I remember the maiden voyage well. It was on lake Calhoun in Mpls, Minn and the local police chased my younger brother and I off the water because the boat didn't have a registration number. I took some time off from paddling to become a Hippie and then an engineer. Now I paddle to escape the technical aspects of life, although I tend to be somewhat of a gear head. I mostly like to paddle alone or with my wife (who paddles a Arluk IV), sticking to the Jersey bays and lakes in the area. We summer vacation at our family lake house in VT and paddle there and the Conn. river. We are planning a trip down to Carleston, SC this spring to visit my parents and are planning to try out the paddling around Seabrook Island. Anybody have any suggestions.......... *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Mon Feb 08 1999 - 16:01:07 PST
