Hi. I am a lurking LADY...hence I consider myself an "Old Pufft." You see, this lady does not fart, but makes a more demure and sensitive use of air (especially with her paddle.) My husband would consider me a "Young Pufft" for I can bench press more than him and have won state Judo and bodybuilding championships, but we won't go there (un-demure/ladylike). I am LindaLee, 41, he is Mike the Marine, 51. We are childless and child-like. We're brand new to the list, and new to kayaking -- only one month. Bought ourselves a folding Nautiraid Double for Christmas and plan to paddle both solo and double. I have not list-contributed much for I've much to learn. However, I can highly recommend the folding kayak for those with storage space and transport probs. This is not the only reason we chose the boat --but a big one. We live and travel in our fifth-wheel RV (smaller, I bet, than all the apartments mentioned). During extended stays we leave the kayak assembled and can haul her that way in the pick-up truck bed. We both are brand new to paddling but remain old salts---we lived aboard and sailed larger boats for over 10 years. I have often worked as hired crew and Mike taught offshore sailing to Naval Midshipmen. We are now closing-in on land and its interior and coastal waters. Mike will retire (in 2 years) after 30 years of active Marine Corps Officering and we'll travel extensively then... to include lengthy camping trips from the kayak. (We have backpacked extensively throughout the world--I look forward to moving the load with paddles vs. legs.) I will continue working as a freelance photographer and writer. We absolutely love being close to and in the water --so refreshing and earthy in comparison to larger/noisier boats. Not to mention beaching ability. Till then, thanks for your wealth of ideas, answers and fun banter.
