[Paddlewise] Who We Are (Old!)

As many have noted, this list is populated by a lot of folks who are in
their "middle years".  I thought that you might be interested in a
MacArthur Foundation study of middle age, which contains a number of
interesting conclusions, among them that the "mid-life crisis" is
largely a myth, and that the middle years are frequently the best years
of one's life. I was also quite pleased to read that, according to the
survey's respondents, middle age begins at 44.  This means that I am not
yet middle aged! (Either that or a lot of us early-middle agers are in
