Aside from the features of each model, look also at the freeware/shareware programs available for each as well as commercial software support (Like Street Atlas). This is one of the reasons I picked the Garmin over the Magellan (but I'm a computer geek to start with...) There are programs that support the NMEA transfer protocol between various GPS units and a computer, but a lot of programs extend the features available by supporting the Garmin protocol as well.
