I made up my own plans and had a trailer built. I can carry up to 12 boats,
more or less depending on the types of boats. I have two large locking
gearboxes, recessed d-ring tie downs, and a 12" high rail with removable
tailgate. I have stanchions 12 inches apart so you can throw coolers and
various other gear on without worrying about anything coming off the trailer.
The canoe/kayak trees will dismantle so you can end up with an 18' long railed
flat bed if you want. The trailer has brakes and is dual axle. I went to a
few trailer manufacturers and got some proposals and went with the one I felt
was best. There are things I would do different, like not go that one extra
level on the tree and maybe put the stanchions 18" apart instead of 12" to save
weight. The gear boxes and recessed tie downs are great.
