Actually, according to Webster's New College, portage appears to 
be "a distinctive period or stage of life" in which we consume "a 
rich sweet fortified red wine."  But that's what you get for letting an 
English major onto the list!

But, carrying on in the spirit of Tyvek drysuits, I was going through 
the latest Sierra Trading Post catalog last night and noted that they 
are selling Polartec Stretch Fleece Socks, 100% percent 
polyester, in several colors including "natural".  And, rather than 
asking them what color "natural" polyester is, I thought it would be 
more educational --- and possibly more amusing --- to ask 
PaddleWise!
