Hello everybody. I am Bob Matter from Hammond Indiana. Hammond is in the NW corner of Indiana near Chicago and Lake Michigan. I fell in love with kayaking this January while on vacation in Florida. Here is a picture of me on a saltwater bayou there in a rented Old Town Loon 120 http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Villa/3057/flori07.jpg. I also went freshwater kayaking on the Hillsborough River twice and saw alligators both times. I rented a few other brands of kayaks while I was in Florida but none were as comfortable as the Loon. I was satisfied with the way it handled (which is secondary to comfort in my book) but I wanted something with a little more weight capacity for my large size and camping gear so I went to CanoeCopia in Madison Wisconsin last weekend and bought an Old Town Loon 138. I also bought a Werner Camano paddle, a PFD, and some other accessories. Most of my kayaking will be on the lakes and rivers of Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. After some training to prepare for the hazards of Lake Michigan I would like to go to Door County Wisconsin and kayak the perimeter of the peninsula and the islands.
