I'm sure Robert's right --- stuff does tend to become public domain unless it's stated to be otherwise (and, even then, it looks like it might be impossible to enforce protection), but I think Clyde was correct in asking if the authors had any problem in his reposting their inputs on a web site. We ought to be working within the spirit of the law, not just the letter, especially when we're trying to work together as some sort of electronically enhanced "group" on this list. While it may not be necessary to ask permission to republish, it's certainly a very appropriate thing for "friends" to to do with "friends", and I appreciated Clyde's request to reprint the article I wrote on Tom Hancock --- even though I specifically gave away all rights to re-post the material in the article itself, hoping that the word <would> get out to other lists and to other paddlers. Which is what Clyde is trying to do. I applaud his efforts and his means of getting there.
