In case there is subscriber out there with a burning interest in sea
kayaking off the northern coast of Norway, here goes:

Arctic Sea Kayak Race is a five-day late summer event arranged (almost)
annually since 1991 by sea kayak enthusiasts of the Vesterålen islands in
northern Norway. You can either take part in the Race (which is pretty
tough - four competition days and one day to catch your breath), the Ramble
(touring) or the Camp (beginners). Last year it took all in all 20 hours for
the Race winner to paddle the total distance of roughly 200 km.

For some reason, there doesn't seem to be any information about ASKR in
English on the web. The ASKR main page - in Norwegian - can be found at
http://www.nif.idrett.no/padling/naskr.html

I'd be glad to provide a participant's view on 1998 ASKR (no Race for me,
Ramble was definitely sufficient), just mail me in that case. I'll mail the
list if there is a more widespread interest.
