  Recalling a discussion about knives quite a while back, I think that
*most* of the Paddlewise crowd do carry knives when sea kayaking.  My
personal choice is the Gerber River Shorty, but there seemed to be quite a
variety of opinions about which knife, or which features, serve a paddler
most effectively.  I've never needed to use my knife for any type of
self-extrication or rescue, but it's always there.....ready to serve its
primary function as peanut-butter spreader<g>.
