Here are the requested hammock specifics (many requests):

The maker of the hammock,

Vermont Voyageur Equipment
Route 242- box 1010V
Montgomery Center, VT. 05471
Phone: 803 326-4789

The last contact I had with them was 1992. I dont know if they are still
in business. They made only a few very specialized items as a cottage
industry. There quality and price were great.

The hammocks description:

length-- 8' (reg.)
width-- 3' (reg.)
Bottom material-- breathable nylon taffeta (2 layers)
Top material-- Breathable nylon with the top 18" mosquito netting.
Weight-- 28oz. (hammock)
my 10x10 tarp--- 20oz.
pack size--- 3.5"x 12"(hammock)
tarp-- 2.5'x 12"
Price as 1992---$71

The ends of the hammock are folded (all three layers) int a 1.5" hem
with the ends left open for the 8' 8mm climbing rope to run through.
The top sheet of nylon with the netting (18") has a full length zipper
down the center with pulls on inside and out, There is a reinforced
grommet in the top fabric near the chest. a nylon cord passes through it
to the tarp rope. with a cordlock on the inside you adjust the top layer
upwards to keep bugs and netting away from you.
The ropes at the ends are pulled tight so all the hem is bunched into
one tight loop and tied off. The other end of each rope is what ties
around tree, etc. When in the hammock you can turn around and sleep on
your side. The design is such that you are hanging from a cacoon.
Getting in and out is similar to entering a kayak "butt first fashion".
You dont hear the critters all night because they are on the ground
(mud) with the rest of the slime.

The company also made two rain flys but I made my own 10x10 that worked
great. a hiking friend bought there expedition rain tarp that has door
flaps on each end. this is a serious tarp that protects you from wind
driven rain, fog or cold wind.
