[Paddlewise] Wasa Bogo?

Paddlewisers,

Wanting a good current table example for a sea kayaking course I teach, I
accessed the TideX program at Tide/Current Predictor and looked up the current tables for
Deception Pass, WA. The tables show biiiiiig numbers and the footnote "Units
of estimates are bogo-knots." This is a term I've never found before.

Could anyone define "bogo-knots" for me, or refer me to a site with that info?

Note: Bogo-knots should not be confused with "Bozo-knots" -- a unit of
measure used for gauging the speed of micro-sized kayaks paddled by orange-
haired clowns.

Thanks again,
Harold Tervort
So. Cal.
