Hello List, Recent postings here about towing reminded me to post this request to the list: I can imagine times where I'm paddling with others and someone needs to be towed. I'm talking sea kayaking here and not river rescue. This tow can be a short time (pulling a tired person out of a surf-to-rocks situation) or a long time (towing an exhausted, hypothermic, seasick or otherwise incapacitated person back to the put-in). I would think that the towing is something not to be taken casually but should be executed with some skill and planning to assure the safety of the tower and towee. So: 1. I would like to invite the experienced people on the list to comment on the towing process. Equipment, technique, what to do and, maybe more importantly, what NOT to do. 2. I would like to see someone in my area (NYC Metro) run a towing clinic. Any takers? TIA, Bill Leonhardt *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed Apr 07 1999 - 06:43:26 PDT
