No it's not _that_ of conversion... ;-0
although I think we'd all agree that one _can_ have a religious experience out
there!

But has anyone take a two piece paddle and made it a four piece so it'll fit
through the hatch for an emergency paddle??
Can't I just make two cuts and get just-smaller shafts to 'put inside to attach
the two new pieces snugly. Perhaps also put some sort of securing device there
as well.

What do you use for a stowable emergency paddle?

Contact the manufacturer and ask them for 2 sets of buttons and inner
sleeves that they use on their 2 piece paddles. Another option may be to
epoxy the middle and make a 3 piece paddle. Just make sure that the joint
isn't where your hands are placed.

I haven't done it, and unless I had a folding kayak and wanted to make everything short enough to fit in the packs, I don't think I would. We carry spares in case of paddle failure, and I imagine failure is more likely to happen at sea than on land. How would you access your spare at sea if it's below decks? I think even if I had a four piece, I'd assemble it to two pieces, and carry it on the deck. What thinketh the group?
