My friend and I lived for 3 months on a 27 catamaran in the Bahamas. We
went 3 weeks one time with only 5 gallons for fresh water (lots of rum).
What we did, was to use dish soap, it lathers great in salt water, then
after we were done was to use a wash cloth with fresh water to wipe off
the small amount of salt left. This left us clean and salt free. Sun
showers are great when you have access to fill them up but even being
very frugal with the water your going to use at least a 1/2 gallon of
water.

Give it a try it works.

Hey all you crusty cruisers and funky touring people, how do you make
out
bathing in salt water for weeks at a time?

According to the creaky chemist, salt water only contains 3% salt. But
I'm
somewhat concerned about salt sores and ulcers festering up after 'many'
days. I've been told that if you dry yourself thoroughly after bathing
you
will get most of the salt off. Some places are easier to dry than
others
and those are the ones I'm worried about.

I wonder what happens to the salt concentration in the towel. Rinse it
out
like a Gortex dry suit I guess.

I have a Sun Shower that works ok but I haven't used it for several/many
consecutive days. BTW I use Joy dish detergent for the suds.
