Robert,

Size does matter. A wide kayak is harder to roll. Even more important than
width, however, is the fit. If you don't have good physical contact between
the boat and your knees, thighs and feet, it can be VERY hard to roll a
kayak.

Depending on the cockpit and the type of roll you do, the shape of the
cockpit and the seat within the cockpit can impact the ease of rolling. For
example, I favor a sweep roll which finishes with a pronounced backwards
lean. In a boat that doesn't let me lean back, I have to switch to a
brace roll (or C to C) --- which for me is a less reliable roll.

I'm not familar with the Gannet, but if its like most recreational kayak's
I've seen, the open cockpit would make it VERY hard to roll.
