>>It seems to me there should be factory-issued designs that facilitate use >>of a hand pump with the spray skirt attached (? a hatch opening designed >>for this purpose in front of the cockpit?) How about a mandatory, standard >>issue foldable outrigger device to aid with re-entry, or rolling up? FWIW I was rummaging through a back issue of Canoe & Kayak the other day (about 1996) and I noticed an ad from a company in BC selling an air bag for sea kayaks. It was meant to facilitate rolling. It was to be kept alongside the coaming or perhaps in the boat. The paddler would grab it and inflate it with the CO2 cartridge (much like an inflatable pfd) and use it as a stable float to do a sort of eskimo rescue. From the drawing it appeared to be a fairly large bag. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu May 13 1999 - 08:11:13 PDT
