NiCads seem to give me 2-3 hours of continuous run time. So I went and bought a set of NiMHs from battery shack on the net. Preliminary testing suggests I will get 6 hours or so of run time on one set. I have the old battery guzzler version, 12CX. For longer use I have a 12V adapter that I use with a 7amp Hour lead acid rechargeable. That lasts several days. Given the NiMH result, I ordered 8 more AA's, which will give me 3 sets, or 18 hours of run time; which with a few Alkaline AA's to serve as emergency backup, should be enough run time to manage any normal trip.
