PaddleWisers .....
Memorial Day has found us heading for the Buffalo up in the Ozarks for a
number of years. We leave out early Friday and get back late Monday. I
park the Sea Lion and use the OT 169. Usually we set up a rustic base
camp on the river and then there are different stretches to paddle/float
during the days with a short shuttle. There is some nice hiking if you
wish. It's that kind of slow-w-w-w "River Time" sort of weekend where
everyone fights over a good tent site, steals beer from their tentmates,
fights over who didn't bring enough limes and/or Jose', second-guesses
any attempt at decent cooking, disparages everyone else's choice for
"wine night", fights over hammock-time, spills water-food-beer, trips
over guy lines, mashes a finger or two with
hammer-rock-horseshoe-gunwale, gets a pretty bad sunburn .....well, just
has a WONDERFUL time !! Trip report to follow ........ya'll pass a good
weekend, yeah !!

Seriously, do take a moment and remember what this MEMORIAL DAY is really
about ...a pause to remember and honor those who did not make it back
from that last patrol .........Peyton (Louisiana) USMC E-5
