In a message dated 99-06-06 19:20:52 EDT, you write: << After rolling up (or exiting) I experienced sever dizziness that lasted for close to 2 minutes or so. >> Clyde - This sounds to me like the sort of disequilibrium which occasionally comes from temperature changes in the inner ear (not the middle ear, which is the part behind your eardrum which is responsible for hearing). One test of the intactness of this inner ear vestibular mechanism is to instill fluid of varying temperatures, in order to deliberately cause dizziness or vertigo. Was the water where you practiced quite cold? I'm wondering if, rather than being the cause of your problem, the ear plugs didn't work well enough to keep the cold water shock from reaching your inner ears. Snug ear plugs in *both* ears and a well-fitting neoprene balaclava may ameriorate the problem considerably. They sure won't make it worse, and may well be worth a try.
