I suspect that the tyvek is coated with some form of water repellent finish.

I tried cutting some 8 1/2" x 11" pieces of Tyvek and feeding them through 
my laser printer.  It's not as stiff as paper, so every 3rd sheet jammed.  
Once printed, though, whatever you print is really waterproof, but 
disappointingly, not wear-proof.  Once you crinkle the paper a time or two, 
the toner just flakes off.

I suppose a copier would have the same results--unless a copier heats the 
toner more than an inkjet does, and maybe the print would be more 
long-lasting.  I don't think an inkjet printer would do well either, as inks

are water-based, and Tyvek is waterproof.
