I've got a pair of Teva shoes/sneakers (not sandals) that are mesh with
drain vents in the heel cup. They are not comfortable. The vents
in the heel cup are not flush, blisters are guaranteed unless you wear
socks. Even with socks they aren't comfortable in a kayak, with my feet
against the footpegs my heels rest on the vents. The laces that
came with them don't stay tied, even with double knots, which is a
supreme annoyance if you wear them when portaging.
