Hooray!!
Finally got my kayak in for its maiden voyage, after being landlocked and boatless all last summer and winter. One thing for sure, the A2000 will be much easier to assemble once the wood takes a set; time to leave it assembled for a week. Wood frames are great!
Naturally, my old paddle isn't the optimal lenghth for my new boat; but isn't it a kayaking maxim that new kayaks *require* new paddles? At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. ;-) Now comes deciding which length to get, but first...
FINALLY found that boat cart, with the fat yellow wheels which go over soft sand so well, that was in a boat cart review a few years back. But who could remember where the review was or what the cart was called or what company made it. Well, they have a web site, so are now findable; Roleez Wheel Systems. The kayak cart now is called Toteez-II (presumably son of Toteez), weighs about 10lbs, costs $159 +s&h, and is on the *top* of my wish-list.
This summer has me working minutes from the coast, so plans are to kayak a lot and learn to sail. I am SO out of shape after having no boat all last season...felt like a total klutz on water. Guess it does take time to get your sea-legs back...or perhaps in this case it would be "getting your sea-butt back". This year will be a much nicer summer. :-)
Start with light trips and work up; trips in CT and RI are of interest, as I'll be working in the Groton area.
Happy paddling,
Leander
