Most people practicing "Greenland Technique" are really having fun experimenting with different paddle strokes and trying different manuevers. "Freestyle" lets you experiment and grow in the best tradition of the kayakers of Greenland. Instead of trying to conform to some mis-begotten concept of how the original kayakers really paddled, why not create a context and foundation for moving onward. The only valid reason I can see for studying traditional techniques is to learn how to improve your own and hopefully learn techniques better than those you were taught.
