IMHO, what you did was very clear and quite rational.  Try not to sweat it!
There's way too much deception and scamming going on out there -- especially
via this medium.  It's smart, for all of us, to take a moment and search for
reassurance and confirmation in situations like this.  And my guess is that
Magliaq, being a computerphile as well, would understand your actions full
well.

I'd also like to mention that the support being proffered to Magliaq by
members on this list is a very cool thing!  From QCC providing a 600 to
offers of money and travel assistance from strangers -- makes me damned
proud to be a member of this wonderful global paddling community.

Good luck to Magliaq in the race!!!  And the best to all "Paddlewisers"!
