I think it's interesting that while we debate how far we are willing to go
to recover the body of the unfortunate fifteen year old girl who drown on the
Chattoga, our government is willing to spare no expense to recover the body
of JFK Jr. And while I realize there are some extenuating circumstances to
each recovery, I can't help but wonder what would have transpired had it been
JFK Jr. who had drown on the Chattoga? This is not an opinion, simply an
observation.

I don't think any of the rescuers were at risk while attempting to
recover the bodies. As a matter of fact, when it became apparent that
conditions were too risky to continue searching, the search was called
off. Prior to looking for the bodies, the rescue attempts were to hopefully
recover live humans, where in other cases a great deal of expense has been
involved to also look for those without connections and famous names
(I can think of a several-day rescue attempt that occurred last year off
Dana Point for a missing sea kayaker that involved numerous personnel
and aircraft). She was not "famous" nor did she have connections to
anyone famous that I recall.

There is a lot more at stake in the JFK Jr. rescue and recovery attempt
than just bodies... that being that a plane went down and it is *extremely*
important to Government officials to know why (though they may not
ever). They *want* that wreckage.
