We're happy with the Lasso Security Cables we bought about three years ago. They're fairly thick plastic coated steel cables with loops that go over the bow and stern of the kayak, then are threaded around the bar of the roof rack and brought back to the cockpit area to lock. The locks have also been reliable so far (I flood them with WD-40 at the start of the season). It looks like Keelhauler (usual no-connection disclaimer) is having a close-out sale on them, at a good price.
