I had a similar experience some years ago while car camping on Rosie's Ridge, just east of the Tetons. I pitched my tent next to a little pond, figuring there would be lots of wildlife coming down that I'd be able to see. As soon as it was done, I started getting the willies, for no discernible reason. They just would not go away. This never happened to me before. Finally I gave up to the urgent internal promptings, and moved camp to a point some distance away, after which I felt fine. The next morning I stopped for a map at the Forest Service office, and was told that the area I had just left was heavily populated with grizzlies, which I had not known nor suspected. I immediately "knew", through some intuition that seemed then as certain as sight, that I had had a narrow escape.
