I am planning to go to the Kayak Symposium in Port Townsend this
weekend. I want to register when I arrive. Does anyone know if there
is any chance that all the accomodations will be full if I do not
register in advance?

Has anyone who has been to Fort Worden State park for the symposium
discovered strong reasons to prefer the campground or the dormitory as a
place to stay?

I'd call TAPS at: (414) 242-5228 or Fax: (414) 242-4428

Campgrounds tend to be quieter but there are exceptions...

I was considering going to the symposium, and surfed around the web looking
for a place to camp. I can tell you that Fort Worden is FULL!! Most other
campgrounds in the vicinity are also full, as are most of the inexpensive
hotels and B&B's. I was thinking of staying on Whidby Island instead - there
were still campsites and hotel rooms available there. Good luck!!

Catherine,

If you call Fort Worden State Park they will say that they are full,
but, the Symposium has taken over much of the campground and you must
contact the Symposium organisers, TAPS, through their web site, or call
1 (360) 379-8202, if you want space at the campsite. I don't know if
the Symposium part of the campground is also full. See also the message
from Kirby Stevens about an alternative campsite.
