On the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's "The Nature of Things" earlier this week they had a program on aging. One of the most heartening things they showed was a Scandinavian experiment in which folks in their eighties, who had not been particularly active before, started doing a moderately vigourous routine of stretches and workout. There appeared to be a measureable increase in their mobility, a reduction in their chances of injury in everyday life, and an increase in their perceived quality of life.
