Scott, way TOOO funny. congratulations - and I was certainly thinking of the
Snowdrops on the Yak and the rest of the hardy P'wisers. It was "frolicking"
cold on the banks of the Peace River this weekend.

Not a thermometer between the 15 of us, but it must have gotten down to the
low 50s or (GASP), perhaps the 40s. The mist was so thick over the river you
couldn't see very far, but the full moon made it all look beautiful.

I was in my summer weight Slumberjack So-Lite (that packs ever so small for a
"polyfill") sleeping bag. I was wearing leggings (sans socks because my only
pair got muddy - I'm learning to pack light!), then a fleece vest, T-shirt,
long-sleeved cordury shirt, and a "sweatshirt" hooded jacket and I was still
on the coolish side. At least the bottom half of me was - I used my Gore Tex
parka as a top layer blanket and the difference was noticeable.

I thought we were supposed to get autumn weather before the really cold stuff!

I'd appreciate private responses for recommendations of a slightly warmer
"polyfill" bag that packs small. I have a BEAUTIFUL Feathered Friends down
bag called the Rock Robin. It's bright red, has a drawstring bottom for when
my legs feel claustrophic and want to stretch, and zippered armholes for
reading etc. Technically, one should be able to "wear" the bag and hop (Rock
Robin?) over to the the "bathroom" without having to exit one's bag. I'm
very reluctant to take a down bag on a water trip. I think it was almost
$300.

However, if anyone knows of a really "cheap" down back - perhaps seconds - or
factory closeout - I might be tempted. Just don't want to take a bulky bag.
Tx
