starting with a Sierra

Yeah; my parents home in Hollywood has 18" of freeboard.
Their lake is the highest in memory (which is the entire
life of that man-made b.o.w.).

The second longest night I ever spent was on an October
backpacking trip in N. FL: mistakenly expecting a cool
mosquito-free night (read: ill-prepared), at about 3 a.m. I
was lying in the river with only my nose exposed, vainly
seeking respite and conservation of my dwindling blood
supply. But at least you have pit-vipers.

I'll take the Indigenous-American Summer we are having here
in the P.N.W.; Saturday night (after surfing all day) was
spent with friends around a big roarer, 50 degrees F.,
s'mores, trees moaning in the wind, spectacular shooters.
Morning visitation by the local Elks club.
