This thread reminds me of an issue I have that I'm starting to get used too. I have no problem pulling myself up on a dock or grassy bank to exit my kayak after a couple hours paddling. Legs are a bit stiff, but it's not a problem. Keep hold of the boat, drag it up on shore, do whatever else has to be done. Beach landings, I almost alway capsize in the surf while trying to exit the boat. Not dangerous, because I am far enough up so that I won't wash back into the surf, but pretty silly looking. It has become a sort of personal joke. My legs are just too stiff by that time to manuver me out of the boat successfully. By the time I pick myself up and get my legs under me, I'm fine. Have just enjoyed a quick dip in the surging brine. I'm hoping that as my body gets used to the abuse I'll get over this, but for now, it certainly adds to the excitement of any beach landing! *********************************************** * Matthew Blumenthal * * Fremont CA * * Potter, Guitar Player, General Computer Nut * * mattb_at_ix.netcom.com * * http://www.mattegrafix.com * * ICQ 12691259 * *********************************************** *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Oct 28 1999 - 15:41:16 PDT
