I tried to send a photo through this morning but it was obviously too big

I'm new to this digital image game.

Any tips on appropriate image file sizes for email postings?

no, it's pictures aren't allowed to be posted to paddlewise... you can
email me THIS picture directly, and i'll post it for you, and forward
the url to paddlewise. i would bet jackie would do the same, i just beat
her to it this time. not eveyone has mail that can process pictures, and
some people have to pay for download time, so don't want pictures, but
they have the option of choosing to go to a website and download it, IF
they choose. generally if it's in their mail, it downloads automagically.

i live in a rural area, and have very poor quality phone lines, so it
could take a while. i have ways around this when i am expecting a large
piece of email, but have to plan it in advance...

Those photos were on a website, and with IE4 which I use here, one
can click on the URL in the message and go directly to the site. That's how
I looked at them.

Most listservs and news groups do not allow picture files because of
their size. Also, not all host computers for these groups have sufficient
storage space to keep them. There are a few news groups which will have
"binaries" in their names, and those are specifically intended for photos.
Alt.binaries.pictures.animals is one such group. There are also some
"Photo Album" websites that you can use to put your pictures up. Then all
you need to do is give the URL or Email for them in your message.

Any photo is too big.

To the list? 0... Zero... Nada... Zilch...

You can put it up on a web page and announce the URL or I'll be
glad to put it up somewhere on the PaddleWise website for you and
let folks know how to find it. Or offer to email it to interested
parties.

Policy for PaddleWise is no images posted to the list but please
feel free to post the URL.

Cheers,

Yup :-) Thanks, Mark. If anyone has an image they want to share but
no web site, there will always be someone here they can count on to
put it up at some location where they can share it with the rest of
us.

Cheers,

Jackie
