I just saw a blurb about a kayaking accident on
http://www.news-observer.com/ under NC Briefs.

This is the web site for the Raleigh news paper, the News and Disturber,
errr, Observer....

The story was from ELIZABETH CITY and had one 17 year old girl, Jessica
Davis, rescued and her 20 year old partner,
Steve Hart, was still missing. They were reported missing Saturday night
and the girl was found early Sunday sheltering
in a Duck blind. A Lt. Cmdr. Crhis Olin the CO of the USCG at Cape
Hatteras said the search had been suspended...

Has anyone heard anything else on this? This is the first I have heard of
the accident. No info on the nightly local
news/infomercial broadcasts.

Later...
Dan McCarty

This accident was carried on the local Norfolk TV news and in the Norfolk
newspaper. Can't find the paper but I remember the TV news saying they
capsized while kayaking on Currituck Sound. Neither was wearing a PFD
according to the report. The boat pictured seemed to be a double with a
single large open cockpit. Water temperature is in the low 60s and they
have given up hope of rescue and are now in recovery mode. Steve Hart was
reported to be a strong swimmer but no mention was made of either wearing
protective clothing.

Take care.
