I will concede that it has generally been my experience that So. Cal. paddlers are not as strong at navigation, and perhaps reading the weather, as some of you northern folks. But I also believe that we generally have a much higher level of boat handling and rough water skills since we aren't afraid of getting wet, and playing in the surf. Maybe it all sort of weighs itself out in the end. What we lack in one area we are able to compensate for by being strong in another. Or maybe not --- just thinking out loud.
