Thanks, Chuck, for the plug.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my PaddleWise mailing list
friends for the almost two year's flow of ideas and discussion that has gone
on here; many of these thoughts have either reinforced my ideas, filtered out
misconceptions, or added new perspectives to the many ideas I collected while
assembling the book. I think the most valuable asset to PaddleWise is in
knowing that there are others out there thinking through similar experiences
and sharing their views with others. I spent many years on the water, on the
trail, and on the road learning things the hard way and am now honored to
have the opportunity to share (hopefully) useful ideas with other paddlers
getting into the sport.

>(One thing I would add, Andy, is the advisability of applying 303 to
VCP-type hatch covers.) <

Right. I'm sure there are many things to add. 303 Protectant (or McNett's
UV-Tech) is useful as preventive maintenance on a wide variety of equipment.
It ranks right behind duct tape in importance as a must-have repair supply.

I would be happy to receive other comments and suggestions relating to topics
in the book for inclusion in possible future revisions. My original contract
called for 40,000 words and I cut it off at close to 60,000, still knowing
there were topics to cover in greater depth as well as other undeveloped
ideas. I know there are ideas I expressed that other good kayakers will
disagree with but I have tried to present an accurate broad perspective on
the whole continuum of kayaking. My experience with PaddleWise has helped
shape that perspective, and for that, I thank you all.

Regards, Andy Knapp
